British Airways direct from London
British Airways is the only airline with a non-stop route. Currently 3x weekly from Gatwick. From 25 October 2026 the service moves to Heathrow with five weekly flights (Tue, Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun) — 11 hours 30 minutes direct. That's a material access upgrade.

The UK and Costa Rica are in formal Double Taxation Agreement negotiations (Costa Rica's Treasury announced the start of talks). Costa Rica currently has DTAs with Germany, Mexico, Spain and UAE. Once ratified, the UK would become the fifth. In the interim, UK provides unilateral foreign tax relief.

The Inversionista (Investor) residency programme grants renewable residency to foreign buyers investing at least US$150,000 — and the property purchase itself qualifies. No separate income threshold, no £800K threshold like Portugal's old Golden Visa, and CR's programme is still actively accepting applications.
Owner financing fills the bank gap
UK lenders won't finance Costa Rican property. CR banks rarely lend to non-residents. Owner financing — a promissory note registered as a mortgage at the National Registry on closing day — closes that gap. 20-40% deposit, 0-9% fixed rates, 5-15 year terms.
